In May, Francisco, project advisor, visited Guardianas del Estuario, The Iris Project’s 2024 Seed Prize Winner, as part of the mentorship and follow-up to understand and identify how to better support the project.

After years of remote collaboration, The Iris Project team finally met in person in Cape Town for Be The Earth’s South Africa Festival. Meeting in person brought new energy, clarity, and inspiration to our mission.

Guardianas del Estuario is working with local women and youth to lead scientific research, water quality sampling, and community engagement in support of coastal restoration efforts.

The Tiwai Honey Initiative is restoring Sierra Leone’s pollinators by establishing beehives, constructing a honey processing facility, providing training and protective gear to young beekeepers, and generating income for local communities.
