The Seed, Stem and Iris Prize Runners-up!

The Iris Prize

Each runner-up will receive a grant of $3,000 USD, an invitation to join CoalitionWILD’s 6-month Leadership Development and Capacity-Building EXCELerator program and monthly group peer-to-peer mentorship sessions.

24-year-old Santiago Cabezon from Argentina is a runner-up for this year’s Iris Prize. His organisation, Ecohouse, is restoring and conserving bio corridors in the Parana Forest through activities such as planting native species and implementing rewilding projects. Local communities are involved in project design, execution and monitoring.

22-year-old Purity Christine from Kenya is also a runner-up for the Iris Prize. Her organisation, KleanerAir is monitoring and improving air quality in Nairobi. Through an extensive network of air quality sensors and a mobile app, KleanerAir is bringing real-time air quality data, interactive maps, and personalised insights to individuals, organisations and policymakers.

The Stem Prize

24-year-old Alyssa Erin Kardos Loera from Cambodia is a runner-up for the Stem Prize. Her organisation, Re-made in Cambodia is a sustainable fashion project that aims to revolutionise the global fashion industry while promoting Cambodian arts. The project transforms textile waste from rivers into fashion collections, addressing the pressing issue of waste and showcasing the creative potential of discarded materials.

24-year-old Ahmed Ijunad Junaid from The Maldives is also a runner-up for the Stem Prize. His Moosumi Magazine blends science with powerful narratives to create intimate and impactful stories that give voice to defenders of the Maldivian environment. By telling these conservation stories, Moosumi Magazine sheds light on environmental issues, and inspires love for the natural world.

The Seed Prize

Each runner-up will receive a grant of $1,500 USD, an invitation to join CoalitionWILD’s 6-month Leadership Development and Capacity-Building EXCELerator program and monthly group peer-to-peer mentorship sessions.

17-year-old Sheina Ashley Pribadi from Indonesia is a runner-up for the Seed Prize. Her idea for The ACE Project is to create an eco-friendly and cost-effective alternative to Portland cement by incorporating fly ash, a byproduct of coal-burning power plants, in bricks. She hopes to provide earthquake-resistant support to affected areas and break the stereotype that science-related projects are mostly for men!

23-year-old Aruna Bangura from Sierra Leone is a runner-up for the Seed Prize. His idea for Bangs Circular is to combat the decline of honeybee populations in Sierra Leone’s Tiawi Island Community by establishing a sustainable and community-led honey enterprise. The project provides training and tools to local communities for sustainable hive management and honey production, reducing reliance on harmful harvesting methods.
